4. Your ownership is in the midst of a nasty divorce.

Yes, the saga of Frank and Jaime McCourt continues. Here is the latest and greatest.

– Jaime McCourt is asking for $1million in support from Frank.

– $600,000 of the $1million will go toward mortgages on Jamie McCourts properties.

– Since November Frank has spent over $50,000 on clothes.

– The McCourts two sons are drawing a combined salary of $600,000 for doing… One son attends Stanford and the other works at Goldman Sachs. However, one of them did attend the MLB Winter Meetings with Frank in November.

The US vs Canada gold medal game this past Sunday was the most watched hockey game in the past 30 years.

The 2010 mens hockey gold medal game drew 27.6 million viewers. The 1980 “Miracle on Ice” game drew 34.2 million viewers. Bob Costa’s called it “that’s one of the greatest sports events I have ever seen.”

A true accomplishment for the sport of Hockey. The NHL must capitalize from the Olympic exposure.

Here are a few statistics to put things into perspective.

The 27.6 million average viewers for the USA-Canada Gold Medal hockey game surpassed the following during the 2009-2010 seasons:

2010 Grammy Awards- 25.9 million

2010 Rose Bowl- 24.0 million

2009 World Series 4-22.8 million (Gm. 4 was most watched)

2009 NCAA Basketball Championship- 17.6 million

2009 NBA Finals – Game 4- 16.0 million (Gm. 4 was most watched)

2010 Daytona 500- 16.0 million

2009 Masters Golf- 14.3 million

This is no joke. Target will be using oversized shopping carts as promotional vehicles at NASCAR events. The carts are 10 feet tall, 13 feet wide and seat two. Powered by an eco friendly 250cc engine the cart will hold 500lbs of promotional product.

The Church of Hockey

We have all heard that Hockey in Canada is more than a sport, it’s a religion. Here’s a Facebook posting to prove this.

“Our Father, who art in GM Place, HOCKEY be thy name, thy will be done. Pants on the Ground?

In a constant quest to find the most obscure and interesting Facebook fan pages, today I succeeded. The Norwegian Olympic Curling teams pants currently has 451,528 fans. I’m debating, should I make it 451,529?

The page started by a US curling fan was taken down yesterday due to a violation of Facebook’s terms of service. After a flood of angry messages and postings, the site was restored.

The Olympic come to a close on Sunday. I think I’ll pass on this group.
